Located in the Pilsen neighborhood, The Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum is the nation's largest museum dedicated Mexican art and culture. MFACM features acclaimed exhibitions - from traditional to avant-garde - art workshops, theater and music events. At the core of what the museum stands for is its recognition of Mexican culture as one without borders, "sin fronteras."

Mexicanidad: Our Past Is Present
This milestone exhibition is the first permanent display of its magnitude to showcase the development of Mexican culture as it has unfolded over three thousand years ago in Ancient America, up to the present day.

Día de los Muertos
MFACM's annual presentation of the Día de los Muertos exhibit includes a wide range of artistic expressions. The Day of the Dead celebration is a wonderful and unique Mexican tradition of remembering those who have passed away.

Del Corazón Mexican Performing Arts Festival
Each spring visitors can experience the beauty, wonder and vibrancy of the Mexican culture by way of this internationally-acclaimed event which has become one of the most anticipated performing arts festivals in Chicago.

Sor Juana: A Tribute to Mexican Women Festival
The Sor Juana Festival serves to honor one of Mexico's greatest writers - Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a 17th-century nun, playwright, philosopher, mathematician and poet. This fall festival showcases the rich artistic and social accomplishments of Mexican women.

Permanent Collection
MFACM's permanent collection is composed of Prints and Drawings, Folk Art, Photography and Contemporary Art. The works of Mexican and Mexican American artists are represented in the permanent collection.

Education
The MFACM’s Department of Education offers public programs, school-related art education programs, professional development for teachers, and community outreach initiatives. Through guided tours, children and adult workshops, lectures, film screenings, plays, book readings, artist demonstrations, concerts, family days and more, the Education Department supports the museum’s mission to provide authentic opportunities for the appreciation of the richness of Mexican arts and culture.
